GLOBAL WORKERSDave & Marlene Serving with InterAct Ministries, Calgary Prayer Request: David has had Multiple Sclerosis for 24 years now. Symptoms and abilities are always changing over time. His greatest challenges for the last year have been nerve pain and severe painful muscle spasms in his legs. Medications help but don't eliminate them. At night they can prevent his getting to sleep and/or staying asleep. Please ask God to give him relief from these symptoms, especially at night. It was 9 pm. on the day that Calgary came off the COVID 19 lockdown. Our phone rang. It was our friend Amy calling to say that she had made a special treat (baked whipping cream with a date sauce drizzled on it scooped up with pita bread pieces) for breakfast for them and extra for us and would I please come and pick it up right away. I promised to be there as soon as I could but being distracted by other urgent tasks, I did not arrive until 10:30 pm. By the time I arrived she was a bit panicky thinking that I had been in an accident because I never arrive to her house late! I quickly reassured that that I was fine. Now when a person drops by to pick something up, it’s never a quick hello and goodbye like it is in our culture at that time of night. After greeting the entire family, Amy and I sat down and we caught up on what had been going on in both of our lives and also the lives of the other ladies and their families that I know. About an hour into our conversation, we heard a bump, bump, bump coming down the stairs. It was her four year old daughter dragging her very full backpack down the stairs. She declared that she was going to sleep at my house and stay for 24 hours! It was difficult to tell that little girl that that couldn’t happen right now. I arrived home just after midnight, with breakfast that actually became our afternoon snack for the next two days. We are thankful for how we are being used to pour into Amy and her family’s life, as well as other friends and we pray that one day soon they all will become followers of Christ.
