GLOBAL WORKERS

GLOBAL WORKERS

This week we continue to highlight Rod and Donna Black working with Fellowship International. The Blacks live in Edmonton where Rod is assisting his team in Pakistan with print and audio-visual resources, coaching churches in small group development, and working with leadership development in South and South East Asia.

A short story and a prayer request from Rod & Donna:
Our Bible study in May, 2020 was obviously nearing the end of its time. People were finding reasons to miss and participation was not what it once was. We had our final session and began talking to the participants to see what had changed from the joy of previous years. They expressed a desire to have a simpler Bible study that they could invite their non-Christian friends to. We began meeting with them to pray for specific friends and neighbours, and from those prayers came two Bible studies – using the same pattern many of you learned in a workshop in Mt. Olive in 2020. It has been a joy to watch this group continue to add names to the list, to support each other in their efforts to share their faith, and to see God working in answer to the prayers. They are also becoming more conspicuously spiritual in their everyday lives. More people have joined the group and more prayer is going up. When our nets are spread wide, when there is extraordinary prayer happening, and when we practice conspicuous (but not obnoxious!) spirituality, the groundwork is laid for a disciple-making movement – and that is what we are praying for. Rod is leading on-line classes now for two groups in Indonesia. Disciple-making movements are happening now in Asia and Africa with thousands of new house churches and tens of thousands of new believers. But we’re praying for that to happen in Canada!

We also continue to ask for prayer for our family, for those who are not following the Lord that they would feel their need for Jesus and begin a conversation about faith. We are so grateful for all of our kids and looking forward not only to the day soon when we can be hugging and holding them again, but also to the day when grandchild #6 arrives in July!
