Coming to a Backyard Near You!

The Mt. Olive Board has requested that we have an information & input meeting with our members  regarding the possible expansion of the land base of Mt. Olive.
We are planning to meet with members Sunday, July 5 at 6:30 pm at the church. 
In the event there are more members attending than the church can hold
with the COVID-19 restrictions placed on us, please consider having only one member attend.

Once again this week, we’re highlighting our global workers Kevin and Laurel Penner working with Wycliffe. 
They split their time between Three Hills and Mexico, and their work is focused on Bible translation both directly and in a leadership role.

A short story from the Penners:

On one of my trips to work with the translation team, I was sitting in church listening to Pastor Miguel and he started talking to the people about the translation work and he described the Mixtec translation something like this: When we read the Bible in Mixtec it’s like eating a soft tortilla, but when we read it in Spanish that’s not our own language so it’s like eating a hard tortilla and it takes longer to eat.” That’s what we are trying to do: provide a nice soft tortilla for the Mixtec people to eat and understand and come to know and trust our heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ whom he sent!

Their prayer request for this week:
Please pray for Laurel and Kevin as they attend a virtual grammar description workshop this summer and work on a description of the Ixtayutla Mixtec grammar. Pray for wisdom and discernment about when we can move to Mexico in light of the uncertainties caused by the virus.
